International flights come to Honduras mainly through Houston, New Orleans and Miami, to Tegucigalpa or San Pedro Sula. From there, you can take connecting flight to La Ceiba, or through la Ceiba directly to Utila.

The cheaper way is to take a bus:

The most reliable and comfortable bus company coming to La Ceiba is Empresa Hedman Alas (tel 237-7143 in Tegucigalpa, 553-1361 in San Pedro Sula), leaving Tegucigalpa at 5:45, 10:00 and 1:00 pm, and leaving San Pedro Sula at 6 am, 10 am, 2 pm and 6 pm. Viana Clase Oro (tel. 225-6583 in Tegucigalpa, 556-9261 in San Pedro Sula) leaves Tegucigalpa at 6:30 am, 9:30 am, 1:30 pm (Mon, Tue, Wed) and 2 pm Sat and Sun. It leaves San Pedro Sula at 10:30 am, 1:45 pm and 5:30 pm.
