Spectacular diving and snorkeling is not all Utila has to offer to nature lovers. It is a true paradise for hikers, as in one hike one can go through such diverse environments as jungle, sandy beaches, cliffs with caves, mangroves and grassy hills. Lagoons, rich with bird life, offer wonderful kayaking spaces. A men-made canal can be paddled all the way to the north side of the island. Kayaks can be rented on Bando beech, from the Ecomarine Dive Shop, or from Lino, across the road from the Chepes beach. Fishing can be arranged with one of the local fishermen. Captain Hall, who lives across from the Cross Creek Dive shop is one of more popular ones. Captain Rusty can take you on his sail boat for deep-sea fishing. Whale sharks, if you are lucky, can be seen from any dive or fishing boat off the north side of the island. A boat that spots them quickly spreads the news to the others by radio. Utila Jungle Eco Lodge can help you with any of the adventures you chose. We can be your guides, or can point you in the right direction to explore to your heart’s content.
